Natefo Mothupi

Natefo Mothupi is a Monitoring, Evaluation, Research and Learning (MERL) practitioner with a focused commitment to advancing equity and social justice in the health sector. She holds a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Monitoring and Evaluation Methodologies from Stellenbosch University, a Postgraduate Diploma in Monitoring and Evaluation from the University of the Witwatersrand (with distinction), and a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry and Cell Biology. 

Natefo currently works at Southern Hemisphere as a MERL practitioner, where she contributes to evaluations and learning processes for global and regional initiatives focused on health equity and sustainable development. Her work spans applied research, qualitative data collection and analysis, and the development of Theories of Change and MEL frameworks. She has supported evaluations and MEL system design for initiatives such as the Catalysing Change for Healthy and Sustainable Food Systems (CCHeFS) programme, Tekano Health Equity, the Africa Health Collaborative, and the Health Justice Initiative .  

Her approach to evaluation is grounded in feminist, participatory, and anti-colonial methodologies. She is particularly passionate about using evaluation as a tool to strengthen health systems and support programmes that advance the rights and wellbeing of women, children, and marginalised communities. 

Natefo is a member of the South African Monitoring and Evaluation Association (SAMEA).
