Course Description
Learn the skills needed to facilitative inclusive and participatory processes virtually.
We will be exploring how we can best take our “live” facilitation skills into a virtual environment to make our meetings and events as interactive as possible. We will consider tips and tools we use along the ‘arc’ of a virtual event, and discuss how we can make the virtual experience engaging, participatory and productive.

What you will learn
- To help you learn about and consider ways to make online events participatory, engaging and productive:
- Identifying challenges to virtual participation
- Hints and tips for improving participation and engagement
- How to adapt your facilitation skills/processes for online spaces
- Trouble shooting and security
- Exposure to a few methods and tools (mentimeter, google, mural, etc.)

- Roles of a facilitator
- Interpersonal communication and conversation styles in facilitation
- Managing group dynamics & understanding group decision-making processes
- How to design a facilitation process
- Facilitation tools and techniques and how to use them
- Design and prepare your virtual session
- Convening and on-boarding your participants
- Conducting the virtual meeting to maximise engagement, participation and productivity
- Closing the meeting with a review discussion of next steps
