Leila is an aspiring Social Development practitioner, Human Rights advocate, and emerging evaluator. She holds a Bachelor of Social Science, majoring in Sociology and Social Development, as well as an Honours and Master’s in Social Science (MSocSci), specialising in Social Policy and Management. Her interest in monitoring and evaluation (M&E) began through her exploration of Social Policy implementation within South Africa, which also inspired her Master’s thesis. Her research focused on examining the M&E systems of non-profit organisations in the Western Cape. This experience introduced her to evaluation and learning as a crucial component of the M&E process, highlighting the importance of fostering learning organisations. Leila is passionate about youth development, social policy, human rights, gender, and community development. She recently completed a graduate internship in the Safety and Security sector, working with government to create safe and cohesive environments. Additionally, as a volunteer facilitator and freelance report writer, she has facilitated learning sessions on human rights, gender-based violence, and youth empowerment, while also offering research and writing support.
